RON/LUNA MOMENTS: ORDER OF THE PHOENIX (BOOK)

Chapter Ten: Luna Lovegood

^ After the Prefects meeting that Ron and Hermione attend, they find Harry sitting with Ron's sister Ginny, Neville Longbottom, and a girl they hadn't met before named Luna Lovegood. During conversation, Luna abruptly states that Ron went to the Yule Ball the previous year with another Ravenclaw named Padma Patil. Ron, suprised, confirms this. Luna goes on to say that Padma hadn't enjoyed the ball with him because he hadn't danced with her, and that she herself wouldn't have minded so much because she doesn't enjoy dancing. Ron is, in the words of the book itself, bemused by this strange girl.

^ When Ron makes a joke about forcing Goyle "doing lines" for detention, Luna laughed the hardest. Ron asks if she was "taking the mickey", but she continues to laugh, "rocking backward and forward, clutching her sides".

^ Luna offers to carry Ron's owl, Pig, for Harry, as Ron has to supervise people departing the Hogwarts Express and getting their luggage together. As Ron and Harry later are to board a carriage, Luna retuns the owl, calling him sweet.

Chapter Eleven: The Sorting Hat's New Song

^ Luna claims that Ravenclaws (possibly including her) think that Hagrid's teaching is a "joke." Ron angrily defends him, saying that the Ravenclaws and Luna "have a rubbish sense of humor then". Unlike others at the receiving end of Ron's temper, Luna isn't upset, but just looks at him.

Chapter Thirty-Three: Fight and Flight

^ When Harry, Ron, Hermione, Neville, Ginny, and Luna are trying to figure out a way to get to the Department of Mysteries, Luna suggests that they fly. Ron gets angry at her, saying that she "may be able to fly without a broomstick" but the others can't. Luna stays calm and tells him that there are others ways besides broomsticks. Ron, still angry, mocks one of her creatures she believes in, asking if they're going to ride on those. Luna still doesn't get mad at the slur, and says they can fly on Thestrals.

Chatper Thirty-Five: Beyond the Veil

^ Ron, Ginny, and Luna are separated from Harry, Hermione, and Neville during the fight against the Death Eaters at the Department of Mysteries. Somehow Ron got hit with a curse that made him go "loopy", so to speak. When they join back up with the others, Ron points out Luna specifically in this state to Harry.
